We Need Your Input
9/28/2008 - Lia Hadley
Recently I’ve been rather preoccupied with a project, setting up a website, for an organization in Kimilili, Kenya. The organization is called the Benando Breakthrough Support Mission and the people there care and educated 250 OVC (orphans and vulnerable children).
Rev. Wasike and I are rather excited about what we have managed to put together so far. Especially, if you consider we are doing this all online, he has apparently (though you wouldn’t notice) much experience with Internet technology, and I have no experience setting up a website.
So, as raw beginners, we need your help. I would like to ask you the favour of go over to the site, especially to the community blog, and leave a comment for Rev. Wasike and the people of the community. They would very much appreciate this.

Lia, I just visited the site and left a comment. I too am involved in missionary assistance to a mission in Nairobi Kenya. As I had mentioned in my comment to the site, I have written a story and the children have drawn the pictures. This spring it should be marketed in collaboration with Fr. Marty at the mission and hopefully it will be successful with proceeds going to the children at the Mission. Also I helped fund the education of a young girl - to graduate from secondary school The price was so minimal and the results magnanimus. I hope to visit the site often..

To all my WE friends, thank you all for going to the site and commenting. Rev. Wasike was so happy to hear from you all. You shared a lot of your thoughts with us and also pointed out the fact that there are some typos in the text. I'll see to those right way. Once again thank you for your kindness and consideration.

Lia, while I mentioned my involvement with a mission in Africa - I didn't want to come across as self-gratuitous. If I did, that was not my purpose. I just know the joy being able to help. I hoped my mentioning some of the involvement I have done that it will give some ideas for Rev. Wasike to think about to help in funding. The site will be helpful in getting people to talk about such matters and hopefully something wonderful will happen. The children of the world are all our children and they need us. Thank you again for sharing.

Susan, I don’t think it sounded like self-granulation at all. At this point we are very much looking for feedback about the website and just human contact. I’m so glad that you and the others made the effort to go to the site. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it has been a fun start.

I think it is a wonderful way to connect around the world and I truly do pray that you succeed and when it can be fun at the same time - even more rewarding. When I wrote my story - I didn't think of the children drawing - I sent the story to Fr. Marty to see if the children liked it - they not only liked it - they drew pictures. Granted this has been in the making for about 7 years - but we have reached the point that it is time to move forward on it. Maybe you, Lia, can write a story - and do the same thing ......?
