A productive Sunday
11/14/2010 - Michele Moore
After beginning the day slowly sipping my coffee and wandering around on my computer, the productivity bug nipped at my heels and I was off and running. If you know me at all, you know that last statement was figuratively meant; I don't run anywhere.
I started by emptying the dishwasher and stacking the morning's cups and dishes back into it. Then I decided to cook down the apples that needed used but were past biting into. About that time my dear husband dove into some housecleaning of his own, so we knew we needed music to work by. What better than the Ray Coniff singers Christmas album? Nothing like some old school holiday tunes to maintain motivation.
I cut up the apples and filled my soup pot nearly full, knowing in no time they would cook down to a fraction of their starting volume when they magically turned into applesauce. Once on the burner, I started laundry and set to folding and putting away the baskets of clean clothes and towels that had patiently waited for my attention for a couple of days. I stripped the bed, washed and dried the sheets, and remade the bed. Waiting now on the last load of laundry to finish drying so I can make quick work of another round of folding and putting away. I know Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, and more often than not, it is in my home. But sometimes it's refreshing to tackle a number of prosaic projects early in the day, so that by nap time, I can lie down knowing I earned it.

It's true that it's refreshing to get these chores done and then sit down with a great sense of achievement. I listen to a good book while I'm doing my weekly chores so I hardly notice them.

You make me weary just reading about your busy day. Good for you. And your reward at the end of it all--a bowl of fresh applesauce. Mmmm good!
