My Anti Nostradamus Effect
1/2/2011 - Susan Terbay
As winter settles into its season, the stillness of this part of the world also settles in as the earth becomes dormant. Yet deep within her womb, life is stirring, movement is happening, roots are circulating and stretching; life breathes. In the stillness of a wintry morning, a sparrow sings, a squirrel scampers, the wind blows and small creatures forage – life also continues outside the earth’s womb. Life happens – whether in the light of the sun or in the darkness beneath. Life continues - God’s choice – God’s image.
The doomsday machine is in full swing as once again as we are informed of the Nostradamus effect for our future – for the world – of life in general. The prediction of the end of time is once again in the forefront – wars, petulance, disease, financial ruins, December 12, 2012 – life as we know doomed to non-existence. Predictions of wars, petulance, disease, financial ruins, life changing events have been a part of humankind’s history since the beginning of time. And unfortunately until we learn the message and live in the image of God –we will continue to have wars, disease, poverty and life changing events; not God’s choice - ours.
Do you ever wonder why the predictions of humankind are always about death and doom and God’s message is about love and hope and the prediction of eternal life? Life continues because God continues – we have the choice of which message we wish to follow - which will we choose?

Nostradaums is reputed to have been a double agent between the English and French courts; in this perspective, instead of predictions of doom his messages are viewed as that of a double spy. The thing is, had we not doomsayers how powerful would the promise of eternal life be?

As for me I'd rather eat cake - have no idea what that means. I just find it odd that no predictions of vaccines that save lives or Ghandi who saved a country are on the agenda of predictions - just Hitler, assasinations, droughts, astroids, damnation. I still believe we are people of miracles and maybe like you stated Anne, how powerful would the outcome be if we didn't have those who said only the worse could happen and we prove them wrong

Me, I’m taking all the frantic people with a grain of salt because sugar works against me. Throughout all of history there has always been a hero that changed the face of reality. Think of all the miracles of this era, we do have flu vaccines that save lives, we do have images of heroes (Ghandi) and we do have caring loving people that change our lives one moment at a time. I have observed more kindness in the past year than in many years. Perhaps the world is slowly becoming a gentler place to be.
