You sound like me Susan. Coffee and womenetcetera--a great way to start the day. Besides it is the only time the computer is free for my usage. The children commandeer it otherwise. The only thing is I just comment--no blog of my own yet.

Maria, I hope you feel comfortable to write a blog someday but if not just hearing from you is wonderful as well. That's what I like about this site - just knowing we are out there and hearing from each other is one step closer to knowing each other. Cool huh? By the way - how many children do you have and what ages? I have six ranging in age from 26 to 36 - so my computer is my own - finally!!!!

Yep, me too; coffee and Women Etcetera. Now, if I had a laptop computer I could sit outside and have the breeze through the trees as well as these chickenwire collaborations.

Me too! And actually right now there is a breeze. okay, we need to look into that - and then have webcam in which we can actually see each other. Of course I cannot afford any of that right now - waiting for my ship to come in - the dock is a little ebbed out but hey - nice thought though huh?

My favorite place to have coffee with WE is outside on the deck. I highly recommend laptops! and boy have they come down in price since I got mine. You can buy refurbished ones from Dell and some other places that are even cheaper and very good. If you're just using it to email, etc. then you don't mean much.
What I like about having coffee with WE is that no matter where I am, home, away, on vacation, in Paris (that'll be the day!) I can still have coffee with WE!

That is true - my next goal is a laptop - until then - coffee with WE at my desk next to an open window - which isn't toooooo bad! Paris huh? Maybe when I go to Ireland - (that'll be the day too) I'll email from the blarney stone!!! :)

Susan yes it is cool. I like the feelings of connectedness and companionship that I have gotten here. I have 3 children-- an 18 y/o son and 15 y/o twins (boy/girl). And miracles never cease because I am here again--twice in one day!! Oh, by the way before you tax yourself doing the math I am younger than 50. CJ invited me to try the site and I found it inspiritational. When I do reach that milestone in my life I hope to be just as magnificent as the rest of the women who make this site happen.

I read as often as I can to make sure all is well but there are times when I catch my breath at the feelings I am reading. I really have learned a lot from this experience. I loved last weekend when the chatter went up and it was raining anyway.
We ought to put up pictures, Susan, we are planning a WE trip to Ireland to meet with our Irish counterparts.

Cool!!!! County Clare is where my ancestors came from!! You know we did have a picture taken here in Dayton of the group of us - maybe if we get permission from everyone to feature it.
As for you Maria - hey I'm 38 and holding and holding and holding - but my body is 61 and aging, and aging and aging. Some of my best friends are younger than 50 - my daughter for instance! I write a column for moms - just hoping to connect - glad we connected here!

Susan I am glad for the connection, too. One can never have too many friends; I am glad to be counted among yours. I would like to read your column--where can I find it?

Maria, you can be an honorary 50 year old. And then, when you get there, it can be permanent. I am honored that you find us interesting. We are a hoot in person, aren't we, Susan?

I'm on summer break from my column at www.catholicmom.com - I've been writing for that website for about 8 years - it's fun writing - and I've pulled from them for some of my articles here. I have cut back quite a bit from writing the column because of other writings I have been doing. If you go there my last 'column' was a three -part about human trafficking - not quite a moms column but something that I find so important.
Oh, Suzanne, we are more than a hoot in person - we rock big time!!!.

We are a force to be reckoned with when we are together! I keep picturing the young man in back of the room when we had our evening workshop in Dayton; the wait staff at the hotel when we had breakfast; the bar tender that last evening in Dayton - they must have been blown away by this group of "little old ladies" with the huge personalities, laughing like kids and totally enjoying each other and life. Talk about "role models" - ladies, Susan is right on - we rock!

Amen sister CJ! Of course your high energy presentation didn't hurt either! Phenominal women we met that day/evening here in Dayton. Also the men we encountered at the table the one evening at the Park and how they really enjoyed hearing about us as did the women who stopped by. I'm looking forward to getting together with them in person and starting up the physical community of sharing, caring, encouraging, connecting - supporting. We do rock!

Suzanne thanks for the "upgrade to 50". I am touched at the suggestion and the invitation to be able to hang out with you all. It will be my pleasure to continue to do so. I am sure there is much more to learn form this wonderful community of women who so freely share their thoughts and talents with others. Susan thanks for the info I will check out your columns.

You are the driving force of change. We are not just becoming friends, we are looking to change the perception and therefore our own power. The time has come for the wise elders to rise up and make them selves heard. A few laughs are a great opener but wait til they see our finish.
