Do You Ever Feel as if We are in an Alternative Universe?
5/2/2012 - Suzanne Caplan
Long title but complicated feeling. There are times when I feel well grounded and can tuddle around my world with a certain level of contentment. And then there are days like the last few when I feel like a stranger in a strange world. I thought I understood politics but I do not understand what these mad men are doing (some women as well) except to undo what felt like progress.
I though I understood business but one of my clients became enragaed and threw two really large chairs off a wall close to me. Then he came into my face not with a threat but with clear rage.
We are living in complicated times and I do know a few folks who have opted out of reality. But for the rest of us, the demands of a simple life are not simple anymore. I am thinking about finding an escape hatch.
Anyone want to start a new commune?

Yes, I will live in a commune with you as I wonder what delusional world I am living in. In my delusional reality people care. They care about each other, strangers, less fortunate and most of all they care about reasonable behavior. At this time in my life I thought women would have equal pay, woman would not fight for rights, and races would understand the possibility of ethnic differences and respect those differences. As my 7 year old granddaughter said, " Nana, you just want everyone to hold hands and sing Kumbaya..." YES!

My goodness, Suzanne. I cannot imagine anyone acting like that. I would be terrified. This post reminds of an earlier post about the highs and lows in life. That person certainly would be a low! Glad you can bounce back from that.

That behavior is uncalled for! It sounds like out and out assult. Are you okay? I would be incapable of being in the same room with that person, ever again. I hope he is no longer a client. And, I'm all for a commune but i think we'd have to find another planet.

It takes a real woman to handle an enraged person and come out standing. I am not as shocked as perhaps I should be. This is because I have spent decades handling enraged parents and students. Sometimes they were angry with me, but mostly they were frustrated (and scared) with their own issues. This client sounds unbalanced. What have you decided to do about him? I do hope you haven't taken it personally. His reaction was way beyond the reason for it, I'm sure. This crazy behavior will have put you in an odd universe. Life is not simple! And it sure can get weird at times, besides.
