I just found a comment from someone who invited this special blog to return and I always listen to the requests of our readers. You are our customers.
I have been doing a lot of business writing these days and perhaps that is why I was doing more general writing on the main site. The condition of the business community is not wonderful. We may have been in a recession for some time but it accelerated into our consciousness quickly last fall. Buying patterns changed as a result of the price of oil before it dropped back and the growing layoffs. Savings have been sparse for many and cash pressure became scary.
For business owner, not knowing what to expect month to month is the worst of all experiences. How much material do you buy? When do you layoff others? When will the turn come.
A blog is often opinion backed with facts so here goes mine. We are about at the bottom of the cycle. That is, if we do not have any other unexpected shocks to the system. But we will be at this bottom for months if not more than a year, which would not surprise me. This is called an L shaped recession.
What do you do....don't panic. Spend some time to really look at where you and your business is and then make sure you have changed your habits so that you can survive here for a while. At the same time, look for creative ways to move forward once again.
More about this in my next post.
