Six Random Things
1/31/2009 - Sue Ann Crockett
There's a game going around Facebook where one is asked to name 25 (!) random things about him/her self. I think the activity has been around awhile, and most people have done it at least once.
Since most of us on this site have never actually met one another in person, and undoubtedly have quirks and preferences we've never mentioned.. I thought it might be fun to name just six random things about ourselves that others may not know.
They can be whatever we want.. but should be little known facts, or maybe things we haven't shared with each other.
I'll go first:
1. I am still perfecting the art of the deep, long, resonating belch.
However, I can perform well enough for those in the same room to take
notice. Most recent expulsion: Out for Mexican food with my son and
grandson. Dr. Pepper provided the needed carbonation. An alarmingly
good time was had by all.
2. I am very good at keeping secrets. I do not tell. They stay in my mind
and heart forever. If needed, I can supply references to support this
claim.
3. I have paid to see two movies (in the theater) 12 times. The first one
was "Dr. Zhivago".. the second one shall go nameless because I am
embarrassed to say what it was.
4.
Anything played on fast forward makes me silly--wet my pants, laugh
until I can't breath, silly. I don't know why.. it just does. I am an easy mark for this kind of humor--low brow.
5. In December 1977, I took the job of Frosty The Snowman at a local mall.
I arrived the day after Thanksgiving by helicopter, and shared the
snowman suit with a young man who never bathed. It was hard earned
money. Like one passerby whispered into the gigantic, plaster, snowman
head atop my shoulders: "Whatever they're paying you.. it's not
enough." Word to the wise.
6. There are only a few things for which I feel enormous responsibility
and/or passion: My faith, my parenthood, and my work. Everything else
is details.
Anybody else want to play?

I have always been shy,
I am taller than most other women and I often bend over to talk and try to look up at men.
My daughter is who I wanted to be and sometimes I am jealous of her.
My husband seldoms talks about serious things and I get up at night and go into the living and pretend we are having a conversation.
I have said more here that I usually tell my own family.

1. I am addicted to gossip magazines and page 6 of the NY Post. 2. I have a terrible fear of mice. I have a neighbor check the basement before I do laundry. 3. I have a terrible sweet tooth. I feel bad that I never learned how to bake my own pastries so now I must rely on Entemans. 4. I watch Larry King on CNN, even on weekends when they are reruns. 5) I wish I was not so set in my ways. 6. I wish I had learned how to drive so I could go shopping by myself and not have to rely on others. I wish I was 20 years younger so that I could correct some of the above aspects of myself.

English composition has been a major academic endeavor of mine. And I just can’t seem to get even a simple sentence correct, much of the time. I watch the movie Forest Gump every time I find it in the television listings and enjoy it as much as the first time. I’m crazy about the innocence Tom Hanks portrays. I’m stubborn, renegade and silly as a mouse once-in-a-while. Not so noticeable when I move along the street though. My oldest daughter died unexpectedly, six years ago, and I’m just now coming out of the migration of grief. I would correct the grammar here but it’s too hard to hack it up again.

I loved my mother and regret that I did not tell her until she was 93....she had not told me either. I have been in a male business world for 35 years and I understand them better than I understand women but I like women better.......I am sorry that I did not marry the man I was engaged to 7 years ago but I got scared.......I have an almost fetish for black turtleneck sweaters and I have more of them than most......I love to eat breakfast at 5 am and then go back to sleep and get up a bit later.....I would love to loose fifty pounds but it is the monumental struggle of my life.

1. I would rather cut the grass of our big lawn, front and back, then empty the dishwasher. 2. I should've been a doctor. 3. I was a helluva softball player in my time, wowing people that a skinny girl could throw a strike ball from 3rd to 1st with enough force to "oomph" the 1st basemen's mitt 4. My biggest regret? That I have no dreams, caused from too many years to fulfilling other's 5. I think my husband is the luckiest guy in the world because I'm his wife, and think ANY guy would be lucky to have me love them 6. Love getting together with people..terrified of getting together with people

Who wants to get a pool of cheese going to bribe Sue Ann? I want to know the other movie she's seen at the theater 12 times. Anyone want to join me in bribing her with cheese? Oh heck, let's throw in a Dr. Pepper, too! :)

Ok, I'll agree to watch the movie at least once, while eating cheese and drinking Dr. Pepper, in her honor. Then I'll get on the computer and tell her if I enjoyed the movie or not. Don't know what the "use of Suzanne's Z" is all about so I have to pass on that one. And when I finally meet her (I'm sure I will before we end our time on this earth) I shall have a wheel of Colby and a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper for her. Whaddya say, Sue Ann? What's the name of the movie?? ;)

OK.. my dear ladies.. you've convinced me. The bidding was too much to ignore! However, I am warning you in advance, this is going to be anti-climactic. The movie I paid to see 12 times was "The Mirror Has Two Faces." I am embarrassed to admit it because it was panned by critics.. and generally considered an unabashed Streisand vehicle, which I suppose it was. But, my friend Pam and I drove up and down the Interstate 5 corridor in search of this movie for one reason: Jeff Bridges. He was perfect as a geeky professor who fell in love with the dowdy Rose (Streisand). Now.. you know!

WooHoo! Sue Ann caved! :) I just saw that movie again about 4 weeks ago. I first saw it at the theater and thought it was a snoozer. But when I saw it recently I was pretty amazed by it. I saw things this time that I didn't see the last. Can't say that I would watch it again but you probably wouldn't watch the movie I've seen more than 12 times either (and cried at the same part every time). That's what makes it all the more interesting.

OK, J.. pony up! Is it "An Affair To Remember"? "Forrest Gump"? Tell me, please? Who knows.. maybe your movie is one I've seen a bunch of times, too. I tend to do that.. watch the ones that speak to me more than once.. and as I've demonstrated.. sometimes, often!

Well as you know I tell all without having to be bribed. I am just glad someone is even interested in me to ask me about myself so I gladly tell everything. :) My favorite movie of all time is "Steel Magnolias". I think those women are so different from each other but are such wonderful friends. And the scene where Sally Field (aka..me) is in the cemetery crying about how a child is never supposed to die before their parents is a gut-wrencher. It is met with the hilarious next scene where she's slapped in the face and they all bust up laughing. You have to see it to appreciate it.

J.. I know the exact scene you are talking about. It makes me cry every time, too. Poignant.. and then followed by shocking hilarity. You picked a good one! Come to think of it.. you remind me of the strong, resilient women in that movie :)

New here...what FUN! For some strange reason, I tend to read magazines from back to front, no idea why. I'm a total paradox...am afraid of snakes and tiny bugs yet own a chain saw and love using it. I am imperfectly perfect, have been wife and ex-wife, student and teacher, rich and poor, and intend to be a millionaire even if I go broke. In my dreams George Clooney is my boyfriend and I live on some gorgeous beach. When I grow up I want to be Tinkerbell (never grow up) and play drums in a rock and roll band. Giggles from me
